Harvest & Scarecrow Festival- Hanley Farm
September 21 and 22 join in Hanley Farm’s “Harvest and Scarecrow Festival” festivities! Make a scarecrow to protect your family from the “witches, ghosties, and ghoulies” who prowl your fields and gardens Halloween Night! Scarecrow-making Kits will be available for $20 ($15 for SOHS Members) and includes everything you’ll need to make a full-size, old-fashioned, straw-stuffed scarecrow. You can take your finished scarecrow home OR enter it in the Farm’s annual “People’s Choice” scarecrow contest. If you leave your scarecrow for the competition, you may pick it up on Sunday at 3pm.
There’s a special category of “Oregon History” scarecrows this year. Make a scarecrow that represents a character from Oregon History and enter it in the “Director’s Feature Award” contest. Choose a historical character and dress your scarecrow in appropriate clothing. You’ll need to bring your own outfits and accessories for this contest. Special prizes will be awarded for these special scarecrows!
Enjoy the many other family-fun activities, including: pumpkin painting, apple bobbing, cider-making, children’s games, and much, much more!
Tour the historic Hanley House, featuring Southern Oregon Historical Society’s quilt display. Learn about the Hanley family, house, and farm. Donations for house tours will be greatly appreciated! In addition to the Hanley House quilt display, McKee Bridge Historical Society quilts be on display in the shade of one of the Farm’s new pop-up tents!
