Shooting Star Nursery Class: Designing and Planning a Native Garden
It is more important than ever to create ecologically responsible landscapes! Utilizing the bounty of Pacific Northwest and northern California flora is a great place to start. Natives not only provide habitat and sustenance for pollinators and wildlife, but they can be beautiful, useful and tough as nails landscape additions too. We are thrilled to offer a wider variety of perennials than ever, with many grown from locally wildcrafted seed, courtesy of Suzie Savoie and Klamath Siskiyou Seeds. Come learn about the most reliable and readily available species that thrive in our region, and how to incorporate them into your home landscape. It’s all about understanding your property and microclimates, as well as the conditions these beauties are typically found in, to aid in appropriate siting and soil prep for future success. We will also discuss creating new gardens and plant communities using basic design principles, while considering the key elements needed for a comprehensive habitat.
